Black History Month

Dear parents and carers,

We have now started the month of October. In our Prayer and Liturgy assemblies we focused on the Prayer of the Rosary which we are now praying regularly in the mornings this month. On Monday we also welcomed Sister Josephine Udie who joined us for our morning worship and told us about the Prayer book she has just published.

This week all classes have started their work on Black History Month. We are focusing on this year’s theme: Standing firm in Power and Hope so we are therefore also making links with the Jubilee year theme of HOPE. We will be celebrating all our children’s work through an exhibition you will be able to visit on Thursday 23rd and Friday 24th October.

This week we continued with our focus on FAIRTRADE FORT NIGHT. A big thank you goes to the parents and School Governors who attended our Tea Party on Wednesday but especially to Ms Adegbite and the group of Fairtrade Ambassadors, children in Year 5 who prepared for this event, baked the muffins using Fairtrade Ingredients and gave a wonderful presentation about this important cause we support at English Martyrs.

Today Class 4J led our Friday class assembly in which they shared aspects of their recent learning in different areas of the curriculum.

Thank you and have a good weekend.

Online Safety

The internet has changed all of our lives, particularly our children. For parents and carers this opens up a whole new world of things to be aware of. For many of us, this can all be a bit too much.

The ThinkuKnow website is really helpful and aims to make online parenting simple and offers many practical tips and simple guidance.
