The Year of Prayer

This year 2024 has been chosen by Pope Francis as the YEAR OF PRAYER. This is a special year when we are all invited to pray more and prepare for the JUBILEE YEAR in 2025.

At school we regularly hold worship gatherings and other celebrations to mark this year. Parents are encouraged to support children and encourage them to spend some time in prayer at home.

Please remember that all children at our school have a PRAYER CARD or a PRAYER BOOK that children can use at home too.

At English Martyrs’ the Year of Prayer is being celebrated through a range of activities including:

Regular prayer and worship gatherings throughout the year.
More children involved in planning and leading prayer and worship.
Children leading the Rosary Prayer each morning in May and October
Year of Prayer displays in school and parish church.
New school prayer book for all Key Stage 2 children and Prayer Card for Key Stage 1 children.
New Prayer Garden with a number of prayer stations for use by pupils and others.
The Romero Room: a new prayer room in Building 1
