Statutory Testing
2025-26 ACADEMIC YEAR

September 2025 – Reception Baseline Assessment:

Schools will complete the reception baseline assessment for each child in the first 6 weeks after they start Reception Class. .

May 2026 – Optional Key stage 1:

KS1 assessments will no longer be statutory from the academic year 2023-2024 onwards. The optional key stage 1 tests will be administered during May 2026. .

June 2026 – Year 1 pupils: PHONICS SCREENING:

All Year 1 pupils and some Year 2 children will be having their Phonics check throughout the week starting Monday 8th June 2026.

May 2026 – Key Stage 2 – Year 6 pupils:

Year 6 pupils will take their formal assessment tests in the week beginning 11th May The following is the timetable for this year’s tests:

Year 4 – Multiplication tables check:

All Year 4 pupils will have the Multiplication Tables Check within the 2-week period from Monday 1st June 2026. Children will be asked multiplication facts up to 12 x 12
