THE JUBILEE YEAR 2025

Jubilee of Hope

This year 2025 was chosen by Pope Francis as the JUBILEE YEAR OF HOPE.

A Jubilee year is a special year that is normally held every 25 years. It is meant to be a special year of forgiveness and reconciliation in which people are invited to come back into the right relationship with God, with one another, and with all of creation.

At school we regularly hold worship gatherings and other celebrations to mark this year. Parents are encouraged to support children and encourage them to spend some time in prayer at home.

Please remember that all children at our school have a PRAYER CARD or a PRAYER BOOK that children can use at home too.

THE JUBILEE YEAR OF HOPE AT ENGLISH MARTYRS SCHOOL:

In this JUBILEE YEAR 2025, children are taking part in a range of activities to mark this special year with a focus on HOPE. Besides our regular RE teaching and worship and liturgy gatherings, different activities are taking place to celebrate the Jubilee Year of Hope 2025. Some of the activities we had so far this year include:

Whole school assemblies on the theme of the Jubilee year
Work in class – writing prayers on the theme of Hope.
Learning the Jubilee hymn
Taking part in the formal launch of the Jubilee year on Thursday 23rd January
Jubilee Year Mass led by Canon Gerard Bradley on Thursday 3rd April
Lent Reconciliation Service
Year 2 and Year 3 classes went on Pilgrimage to St George’s Cathedral.
Years 5 and 6 and one year 4 class went on Pilgrimage to Aylesford Priory.
Class 4J took part in the Festival of Hope organised by the Diocese at Aylesford Priory.
All school families and staff received a coffee mug as a memento of this Jubilee Year
All children received Pilgrim packs for their pilgrimages.
