We have now started the month of October. In our Prayer and Liturgy assemblies we focused on the Holy Rosary which we are now praying regularly in the mornings this month.
On Wednesday we had a French themed day. Throughout the day, children had French language and related activities and also enjoyed their special lunch which also included French inspired food such as ‘Beef Bourguignon’ and then eclairs for dessert!
This week all classes have also started their work on Black History Month. We are focusing on this year’s theme: ‘Honouring Communities’. Each class will be focusing on a person from a black ethnic background who championed causes related to this year’s theme. We will be celebrating all our children’s work through an exhibition you will be able to visit on Thursday 22nd and Friday 23rd October.
Today Class 4J led our Friday class assembly in which they shared aspects of their recent learning including Solidarity and the charities supported by the school community, a reenactment of the Roman invasion and they also made musical instruments to demonstrate how sound works.
On a different note, a big ‘Thank you’ goes to all parents and staff who supported our Macmillan Coffee morning last Friday. The sum raised was £182.94 which will go to help support more work and research for finding a cure for the terrible cancer disease. Friday of next week is Hello Yellow day and we will be focusing and raising some money for the YoungMinds charity. Thank you and have a good weekend.
