World Book Day 2026

Dear parents and carers,

This has been a very special week at English Martyrs’. The week was packed with activities for all children to mark Book Week. Activities included visits to the public library, a book fair over 5 days, assemblies and of course coming to school in character costumes on World Book Day itself on Thursday. It was a wonderful week and we hope that our pupils will continue to be inspired to enjoy their reading even more.

This week we also continued to reflect on the special Season of Lent and how we can make best use of this time to repent and move closer to God. Today, a big thank you goes to 3M for leading our Friday Class assembly in Building 2.

We now look forward to next week when we will focus on Science activities to mark Science Week. It will also be Assessment Week when all children from Year 1 to Year 6 will be working on assessment tasks for Reading, Writing and Maths. Parents will have the opportunity to discuss progress and attainment with class teachers at the Termly Learning Conferences in two weeks time.

Thank you and have a good weekend.

Online Safety

The internet has changed all of our lives, particularly our children. For parents and carers this opens up a whole new world of things to be aware of. For many of us, this can all be a bit too much.

The ThinkuKnow website is really helpful and aims to make online parenting simple and offers many practical tips and simple guidance.
