Headteacher’s Roundup

Posted on November 22, 2024

Dear parents and carers,

Apart from carrying on with our daily lessons and learning activities, this week we marked PARLIAMENT WEEK. On Thursday we showed how we practise Democracy at English Martyrs’ by electing our school council for this coming year. Names of elected children will be announced on Monday.

It was a pleasure to welcome three past pupils on Monday. Pauline, Liz and Marian were pupils at English Martyrs Primary school in the late 1950s and early 1960s. They were thrilled to be here and reminisce about their primary school years, their teachers and fellow pupils as well as the school buildings. They are now part of the English Martyrs community again!

Today, Class 1K led our Friday assembly in which they told us about their learning in different areas of the curriculum including Writing, Science and RE. They also told us about their aspirations for the future and what they want to become when they grow up. We now look forward to next week which is our formal Assessment week for the Autumn term. Children will be carrying out different tasks and tests to show how much progress they made since the beginning of the term. Parents will then have the opportunity to meet with class teachers to discuss progress between the 10th and 12th December after school.

Thank you and have a good weekend!

Online Safety

The internet has changed all of our lives, particularly our children. For parents and carers this opens up a whole new world of things to be aware of. For many of us, this can all be a bit too much.

The ThinkuKnow website is really helpful and aims to make online parenting simple and offers many practical tips and simple guidance.
