Headteacher’s Roundup

Posted on March 15, 2024

Dear parents and carers,

So much has happened this week at English Martyrs! We started the week with our Liturgy and Worship assemblies and we then followed up with our Lent Reflection on Thursday when all children were given a purple money box and encouraged to start collecting money to help other children through fundraising for the Catholic Children Society.

All our Year 5 children visited the British Museum this week to find out more about the Anglo-Saxons, their main topic for this half term. Today Class 4G led our Friday assembly and told us about different topics they have recently been working on in class.

Next week we’re having our SCIENCE WEEK. There are a whole series of activities prepared for our pupils , some of them led by visitors to our school. I’m sure this will be an exciting event for all our children but there is also a science exhibition which parents and others can visit throughout the week.

Next week we are also having our Termly Learning Conferences. These meetings between Parents and Teachers are an good opportunity to discuss the progress children have made this term and what targets are being set for them.

Thank you and have a good weekend.

Online Safety

The internet has changed all of our lives, particularly our children. For parents and carers this opens up a whole new world of things to be aware of. For many of us, this can all be a bit too much.

The ThinkuKnow website is really helpful and aims to make online parenting simple and offers many practical tips and simple guidance.
